The Cayman Insurance Managers Association (IMAC), which is known outside Cayman as Cayman International Insurance, is still considering whether its annual Cayman Captive Forum will be able to welcome guests in person this year.
The venue where the event is held, the Ritz Carlton, recently confirmed it is conducting renovation work over the coming months, although this work is expected to be completed by the time the event is scheduled to be held, from November 30, 2021.
For now Cayman’s borders are essentially closed to tourists, with arrivals required to complete 15 days in quarantine upon arrival, or 10 days for those that have been fully vaccinated. IMAC said it is awaiting further guidance from the government on its plans to relax these conditions before it makes a final decision about whether the event will be fully virtual, or will include physical attendees.
Cayman has made considerable progress with its vaccination efforts, with over 70 percent of eligible residents understood to have received at least one dose. An IMAC spokesperson said it was confident this would allow the government to relax entry conditions in coming months and make a physical component to the event viable.
