RIMS cancels 2020 Annual Conference

The Risk Management Society (RIMS) has cancelled its 2020 Annual Conference and Exhibition, making it the latest industry event to fall victim to COVID-19.

It is the first time in its 70 year history that the event has been cancelled.

In a statement, RIMS said: “As we moved through our own risk management process, assessed the facts, analysed the data and carefully calculated the outcomes of a range of scenarios, it became abundantly clear that this was the best decision for our members, our conference participants, and our employees.”

It said Connections Housing will administer cancellations for reservations within its hotel block on behalf of attendees.

The RIMS online community remains active and the RIMS COVID-19 Information Center will continue to offer resources and articles. RIMS has also created a frequently asked questions page on its website to provide additional information.

RIMS said: “Today is a historic day in RIMS legacy. It will be a day that marks the undeniable value of strong risk management and its ability to scale adversity with tact and precision, enabling organisations, like RIMS, to implement informed strategies for future success.”
