RIMS to examine future of captives amid emerging risk challenges
Risk managers will be urged to reassess the role of captive insurance as organisations confront an increasingly complex risk environment, at an upcoming webinar hosted by RIMS.
Titled The Future of Captives: What Risk Managers Should Be Thinking About Now, the online session will take place on 1 October 2026 from 1pm to 2pm ET. The webinar is free for RIMS members, while non-members will pay $50 to attend.
The session will focus on how captive insurance companies are evolving beyond their traditional role as risk-financing structures and increasingly being used as strategic tools for managing emerging exposures.
Among the issues on the agenda will be artificial intelligence and technology risks, cyber exposures, climate-related challenges, regulatory developments and alternative capital solutions. The webinar will also consider the growing importance of data and analytics in captive strategy and decision-making.
RIMS said the session is intended to provide practical insight into how organisations are using captive strategies to respond to emerging risks, strengthen resilience and introduce greater flexibility into their wider risk management programmes.
A panel of specialists from Brown & Brown's captive practice will discuss the trends shaping the market and the considerations risk managers should be making now to prepare their organisations for future risks.
The panel will feature Matt Takamine and Jason Flaxbeard, both executive managing directors at Brown & Brown, alongside managing directors Matt Gravelin and Bobby Mayer. Brown & Brown is sponsoring the event.
For professionals unable to attend live, RIMS said its webinars are available on demand for one year to registered participants. Each hour of a RIMS webinar is also eligible for one RIMS-CRMP recertification point.
