Compre poaches execs from Armour and QBE
Compre has continued its expansion with two appointments in London, bringing in a claims director and group director for M&A, following the launch of its Bermuda-based class 3A reinsurer, Pallas Re, in 2020.
Marialuisa Petrella will join Compre as claims director in May from Armour Risk Management, where she served as head of European claims. A lawyer who worked at QBE earlier in her career, Petrella will report to Simon Hawkins, Compre’s chief operating officer, bringing more than 17 years of claims experience across a broad range of classes and jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Connie Tregidga will take up her post as M&A director in July. She previously spent 11 years at QBE, most recently as head of retrospective solutions and group reinsurance counsel. She will report to chief development officer Eleni Iacovides.
As well as launching Pallas Re, Compre recently established Lloyd’s legacy syndicate 1994, and has also secured “significant additional capital backing” from Cinven and BCI.
Hawkins highlighted Petrella’s “broad variety of technical, managerial and strategic ability,” and her “exceptional track record of managing high value and complex claims.”
Iacovides, meanwhile, described Tregidga as “an outstanding and highly-respected corporate lawyer, whose deal skills will be a considerable addition to our growing team.”
