Liberty Mutual makes internal promotion to fill workers’ comp claims role

Liberty Mutual Insurance has promoted Virna Rhodes to lead its workers compensation claims business.

She succeeds Wes Hyatt who was recently appointed chief client officer for global risk solutions.

Rhodes joined Liberty Mutual in 2013, having previously managed a number of claims teams at both Allstate Insurance and Farmers Insurance. At Liberty Mutual she has focused on commercial insurance claims.

Steve Deane, global risk solutions chief claims officer, said Rhodes “has the experience and vision needed to lead an organisation that produces superior outcomes for the injured workers of our workers compensation policyholders and customers of Helmsman Management Services, our wholly-owned third-party administrator.”

Liberty Mutual managed more than 300,000 new claims in 2020, representing more than $3 billion in medical and indemnity payments.
