Starwind Specialty appoints new CUO
Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, a CRC Group company, has appointed Kirk Conrad as chief underwriting officer.
In this new role, Conrad will help shape underwriting strategies, monitor and manage risks, and help to stay on top of emerging trends to position the team for continued success in the marketplace. Conrad’s background in data and analytics will play a critical role in further enhancing market-leading data and analytics that allow the organisation to focus on producing profitable underwriting results across the business.
Conrad brings over two decades of experience across multiple sectors of the insurance industry. His career has spanned roles in both commercial and personal lines, risk management, and data analytics, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the insurance landscape.
Most recently, Conrad served as the global head of analytics at a leading reinsurance brokerage firm, where he was responsible for building and leading the firm’s actuarial, catastrophe modelling and rating, and regulatory advisory services resources. He also served as a general securities and investment banking principal with the firm’s broker dealer. Prior to the reinsurance brokerage space, Conrad held roles as a property/casualty actuarial consultant, helped managed a significant portfolio of (re)insurance positions at a multi-strategy alternative investment firm, and worked for an insurance carrier.
“Kirk’s expertise in data analytics and underwriting will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services,” said Bill Goldstein, chief executive of Starwind Specialty. “His leadership will significantly enhance our ability to deliver exceptional underwriting results to our reinsurer and carrier partners while helping to develop innovative solutions for our trading partners.”
”Starwind prioritises underwriting and data,” Conrad stated. “I’m thrilled to join the team and enhance our use of data and analytics to build on the impressive growth and success of the business moving forward.”
