United Educators adds to board of directors

United Educators (UE), a reciprocal risk retention group serving K-12 schools, colleges, and universities, has announced the election of Heidi Vanderbilt-Brown to its Subscribers’ Advisory Board (Board of Directors). She will serve a three-year term.

Since June 2015, Vanderbilt-Brown has served as chief financial and operating officer at Milton Academy, a K-12 independent school with more than 1,000 students. She oversees all aspects of Milton’s finances, facilities and capital projects, campus safety, campus services and events, and human resources. Since arriving at Milton, she has worked closely with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to advance key strategic objectives while developing the school’s planning and analytics functions; addressing risk management needs; and executing the school’s campus master plan.

“Heidi’s insights will be invaluable at this transformational juncture for education and the ways we serve our members’ evolving needs,” said Rick Mills, UE’s president and chief executive.

Before joining Milton, Vanderbilt-Brown was associate director of the Office of Financial Strategy and Planning at Harvard University. She oversaw the design and execution of Harvard’s multi-year planning, budgeting, forecasting, tuition and capital project affordability activities. Vanderbilt-Brown previously was a principal in the Boston Consulting Group’s health care practice and a senior consultant with the Advisory Board Company, a research, technology and consulting firm for health care and higher education organisations.
