Beecher Carlson senior MD joins Woodruff Sawyer


Insurance broker and consultant Woodruff Sawyer has appointed Dan Schmidt as senior vice president of its healthcare practice.

Schmidt has over 30 years of experience in healthcare and medical group self-insurance, captive formation and management, along with integrated liability programme structure design.

His expertise includes developing both traditional and non-traditional risk financing, risk transfer mechanisms, and combinations of both on-shore and off-shore captive and risk retention group concepts.

Schmidt most recently served as senior managing director at Beecher Carlson, a firm he joined in 2008. Prior to that he has held senior roles at Aon and Marsh relating to healthcare risk management.

“Dan has built his career around providing deep expertise, outstanding counsel, and fierce advocacy for his clients,” said CEO Andy Barrengos. “He is a well-established leader in the healthcare industry and a consummate professional. We are so pleased Dan is joining our team.”

Commenting on his appointment, Schmidt added: “I am excited to join an organisation with the experience, expertise and resources to best respond to the unique needs of my clients. I look forward to contributing to a platform that is well-suited for the needs of an evolving healthcare market.”
