Willis Towers Watson hires 30-year captive insurance vet to lead Bermuda business

Willis Towers Watson has appointed Paul Bailie as head of its Bermuda captive practice.

Bailie has 30 years of experience in captive insurance, having previously been active in consulting assignments and serving as an independent director on a number of boards. He held a variety of leadership roles within the industry, including at JLT Insurance Management in Bermuda.

In his new role, Bailie will be responsible for business development and delivering the company’s value proposition around designing, forming, managing and providing strategic guidance to Bermuda captive and insurance management clients.

He will also deliver risk financing solutions for clients across a range of portfolios through collaborating with the company's business and products lines, including Alternative Risk Financing, Willis Towers Watson Securities and Risk & Analytics Services.

“Paul brings tremendous expertise and market credibility to this role, and he is well positioned to help us lead our captive business in this important domicile,” said Paul Owens, the managing director of Willis Towers Watson's global captive practice who Bailie will report to.

“As traditional and non-traditional sources of capital influence market dynamics, and new and emerging risks fuel growth in the captive marketplace, Willis Towers Watson is committed to delivering solutions to help organisations succeed in this environment."
