Cayman Awards: Introduction & methodology

Welcome to the 2024 Captive International Cayman Awards! This is our tribute to the stars and unsung heroes of the captive insurance industry across the Cayman Islands and their efforts and achievements that keep Cayman leading the captives pack.

Cayman remains a leader in the captive insurance world with the breadth and depth of expertise on the Island being unparalleled. We continue to highlight this on the world stage, so we launched our Cayman Awards to shine a light on this outstanding area of the market.

Over the past few months, Captive International readers have cast hundreds of votes in support of service providers they believe are worthy of recognition.

Respondents were asked to name up to three, depending on the question, firms or individuals they have experience of working with based on their competence, expertise and innovation. Firms and individuals were ranked out of 10, with respondents providing the reasoning behind their votes.

We’ve divided the company awards into categories covering the many businesses involved in captive insurance, from captive managers and reinsurance brokers to law firms. And, as always, we’ve included individual awards to ensure we recognise the accomplishments of leading individuals working in smaller organisations.

This year we retain the two new categories we introduced last year: best third party administrators and best technology companies, along with individuals. These categories reflect our understanding of the way the captive insurance industry is changing and evolving.

Every year, all the award categories become more competitive. Given the highly contested nature of the categories, in most cases as well as Winners we have named two Highly Commended companies or individuals that were runners-up.

We send our congratulations to all the Winners and the Highly Commendeds in each category, who have all earned their awards.

We also thank those service providers who work around the clock for their clients, but did not attract as many votes this time around, and all those who took part in voting for these awards.

We look forward to building on this success for another year.
