CICA cancels its annual conference in March

The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) has cancelled its 2021 International Conference, which had been scheduled for March 14-16 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The decision was taken due to ongoing impacts of COVID-19 and worsening conditions in Arizona.

Dan Towle, CICA’s president, noted the particularly challenging situation in Arizona, which has seen record numbers of COVID-19 diagnoses and deaths since the start of the new year. It is reported to have the highest per capita rate of new COVID-19 infections and hospitalisations in the US.

CICA made the decision not to hold a virtual conference in place of a physical conference following feedback from its members. It plans to offer the conference education sessions via a new Digital Education Series, with on-demand video education sessions being released weekly, followed by a live Q&A session with the presenters later that week.

CICA hopes to offer the Digital Education Series to members for free or at a reduced rate as long as adequate sponsorship funding is obtained.
