Guy Carpenter unveils capital advisory group for Asia Pacific
Guy Carpenter & Company has launched a capital advisory group in Asia Pacific, which is led by Michael Owen and Hussain Ahmad.
Guy Carpenter said insurance companies need sustainable, efficient and targeted solutions to help them manage capital pressures arising from evolving market dynamics, regulatory developments and shareholders’ return expectations. The Asia Pacific capital advisory group provides this support, helping clients make informed business decisions and giving them access to bespoke risk management structures, it said.
Owen, Guy Carpenter’s chief actuary for Asia Pacific, has experience in enterprise risk management, including over 20 years at Guy Carpenter. Ahmad, who joined Guy Carpenter in 2019 as head of structured reinsurance solutions for Asia Pacific, has over 15 years of experience in providing technical re/insurance solutions across the region, including M&A valuations, capital management, and structured reinsurance.
Both maintain their current positions in addition to their new roles.
Tony Gallagher, Guy Carpenter’s chief executive officer for Asia Pacific, said the new group is a response to growing demand for more efficient capital structures and strategic insights from clients. “We have brought together a strong team comprised of experts in the areas of analytics, actuarial, structured solutions and catastrophe modeling, as well as IFRS 17, to meet the capital needs of our clients and deliver the best-in-class solutions,” he said.
