Honigman expands captive group with new hire

Honigman has announced the recruitment of Stephen Ruisi (pictured) to its Captive Insurance Practice Group.

Before becoming an attorney, Ruisi spent 20 years in the insurance industry, building deep experience in both the brokerage and captive insurance sectors.

Ruisi worked for Marsh from July 2000 until August 2020, first as senior vice president / client adviser in New York from July 2000 to January 2016 and then as senior vice president, senior healthcare placement specialist and then senior vice president, client executive practice based in Boston Massachusetts.

He was vice president, healthcare professional liability at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance from August 2020 to July 2022, again based in Boston.

He then changed careers to focus on legal matters, becoming first a legal intern and then a judicial intern and then associate at a number of organisations in first New Hampshire and then Massachusetts.

The company said that Ruisi’s firsthand industry perspective brings valuable insight to clients navigating complex captive insurance matters.
