Marsh appoints Smith to Florida leadership role

Marsh has announced that Fred Smith (pictured) has been appointed to the newly created role of Florida corporate and risk management segment leader, effective October 1.

In this role, Smith will relocate to Miami from New York and report to Megan McClellan, southeast zone leader, Marsh. He will be responsible for delivering Marsh’s industry-leading risk and insurance services and solutions to middle-market and large, complex clients throughout Florida.

For the last five years, Smith has served as corporate segment leader for the Greater Mid-Atlantic region, leading Marsh’s middle market strategic growth initiatives and client service teams across Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, and North and South Carolina. Prior to joining Marsh, Smith founded and led a luxury hospitality venture in Atlanta. He also served in various strategic consulting roles, including with Bain & Co., where he helped clients accelerate growth and improve operational performance.

Commenting on his appointment, McClellan said: “Clients and colleagues alike will benefit from Fred’s proven leadership, strategic mindset, and unwavering client dedication. He is the ideal person to lead this important segment for us and deliver the data-driven insights and solutions clients need to seize opportunities and thrive.”

Smith added: “Marsh’s breadth of talent, expertise, capabilities, and industry-leading data and analytics are unparalleled in the industry. I’m excited to relocate back to my home state of Florida and work with colleagues across the segment to deliver these solutions to clients so they can manage their risks effectively and grow.”
