New risk finance director at Newmont Corporation

Mark Johnstone (pictured) has been appointed to the position of director, risk finance at Newmont Corporation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

He was previously national risk management leader at Purves Redmond, also in Toronto, from March 2022 until February 2025, where he dealt with captive insurance and insurance risk matters for the company.

From January 2012 to March 2022 Johnstone was director, global insurance at Barrick Gold Corporation, where he again dealt with captive insurance and insurance risk affairs for the firm.

He was a senior vice president at Marsh Canada from December 1997 to January 2012 in its mining and power practice.
