BHP appoints new chief risk & audit manager

Scott Lester is starting a new position as chief risk and audit officer at BHP.

Lester will lead the Risk, Insurance and Audit teams for BHP. He has global accountability for BHP’s internal audit program, risk, insurance and BHP’s risk management framework and associated processes, policies, procedures and standards, representing the corporate view of risk management to the BHP Board, The Sustainability Committee (Susco) and The Risk and Audit Committee (RAC).

He’s additionally accountable for BHP’s mandated operating procedures, the group annual viability statement, annual report (Risk section) and management of global captive insurance operations as well as the BHP Risk Improvement plan and the three lines of defence model.

Lester was previously vice president, finance, at BHP in Australia. He first joined the company in 2000 as a commodity officer and has worked for BHP in offices all around Australia as well as Singapore.
