CICA names finalists in captive essay contest

The Captive Insurance Companies Association has named the three finalist teams in its Captive Insurance Solutions for Emerging Industries essay contest.

The contest is for college risk management and insurance students and is sponsored by Strategic Risk Solutions.

Marissa Dias and Samantha Kane from Saint Joseph’s University wrote an essay about the home healthcare industry; Magda Olivas Carmona and Rudy Martinez from St. Mary’s University contributed their on the Craft Brewing Industry; and Megan Moore and Natalie Kojababian of the University of Southern California wrote about the Cannabis Industry.

The case studies focused on developing strategies to help fictional organisations in real-world emerging industries develop captive solutions to provide financial stability and the needed coverages for current and emerging risks.

Dan Towle, president of CICA, said: “Recruiting top talent to become the next generation of captive professionals takes getting captive insurance on students’ radar. This type of contest not only increases awareness, it gives them first-hand experience with identifying ways to help businesses with captive insurance.”

Finalist teams are invited to attend the CICA 2020 International Conference on March 8-10, which will be held in California and will receive cash prizes and give presentations on their essays.

CICA is expecting over 500 attendees at its conference.
