Florida risk retention bill fate unclear

The controversial risk retention bill that has been passing through the Florida legislature does not yet have a date for a final vote before being passed to the Governor for approval.

House Bill 57 / Senate Bill 516 has been sent to the Florida State Senate for passage, but with no date yet set, time is running out for the bill as the legislative session ends on May 5.

All the bill requires is approval via a vote in the Senate for it to be sent to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature.

The bill has been fiercely criticised in its current form by the National Risk Retention Association, which has described it as being potentially devastating for risk retention groups linked to transport in the State.
