QBE captives get new managing director

Catherine Thomas has been appointed managing director, QBE Blue Ocean Re & Equator Re, both of which are captives of QBE. She has also been appointed international treasurer at QBE Insurance.

Thomas previously worked at rating agency AM Best from May 2006 until August 2023. She was senior director, head of analytics at the company and was responsible for leading the analysis of insurance and reinsurance companies in AM Best's London office.

She managed a team of analysts and was a regular contributor to articles on insurance topics for AM Best publications, as well as for various external insurance industry publications. She will be familiar to many as a frequent presenter on stage at  insurance industry conferences.

Before her role at AM Best, she was deputy group security officer at Jardine Lloyd Thompson from January 2003 to May 2006.
