Wise confirmed as new director of SCDOI

The South Carolina Captive Insurance Association has welcomed the announcement that Michael Wise has been confirmed as the new director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

Wise was previously the acting director of the department, having been nominated in April by South Carolina’s Governor Henry McMaster.

He has now been confirmed as South Carolina Department of Insurance Director by the South Carolina Senate after being appointed to the position by Governor McMaster.

“The Department of Insurance has done exceptional work during the short time that Mr. Wise has served as Acting Director,” said Governor McMaster. “From hurricanes to combating insurance fraud, he has repeatedly proven himself to be the right person for the job. I have full confidence that he will continue this impressive track record and build upon the agency’s mission to protect insurance consumers, the public interest, and the insurance marketplace.”
