Conyers Dill & Pearman appoints new head in BVI

Conyers Dill & Pearman has appointed a new head of its British Virgin Islands (BVI) office. Partner Mark Forte succeeds Robert Briant, who has led the BVI office since April 1999.

Conyers was the first international firm to open in the BVI. Forte joined in 2004 to launch and lead the BVI Litigation & Restructuring practice.

He has grown the team to include seven experienced solicitors and barristers, all based in the BVI. Mark has over 20 years of litigation experience and has frequently appeared as an advocate in some of the jurisdiction’s leading cases.

“I feel privileged to take on this role at such a pivotal time in the BVI. Not only to lead an exemplary team of practitioners and colleagues, but to continue to support the jurisdiction as a whole, which continues to re-build following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma,” said Forte.

Christian Luthi, director and chairman of the firm, added: “I would like to thank Robert for his efforts in leading and developing our BVI office from a two lawyer operation into a leading Tier 1 firm in the jurisdiction. Mark’s history of leadership as Head of the BVI Litigation & Restructuring practice has made a positive impact and I look forward to seeing him continue to grow and strengthen the office under his new mandate.”
