World record breaker, polar explorer and climate change campaigner, Parker Liautaud, is set to deliver a keynote speech at the Cayman Captive Forum.
His will deliver the speech, ‘Climate Science and Polar Exploration – a personal account’, a day after addressing students and young people at St. Ignatius Catholic School on December 3, 2014.
“On December 24, 2013, Liautaud, a sophomore at Yale University, led the Willis Resilience Expedition to a stunning conclusion. Traveling across Antarctica, he conducted three scientific research projects focusing on how the climate is changing in Antarctica, a region which provides an important signal for the rate and scale of global environmental changes.
“In the second phase of the expedition, Parker set a new world record for transitioning Antarctica unsupported from the coast to the South Pole – skiing 397 miles in 22 days - becoming the youngest man ever to accomplish this feat,” said Willis.
