Vermont Department of Financial Regulation commissioner steps down

Susan Donegan is stepping down from her role as commissioner of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR). Donegan has served in the role for the past three years. Her last day in office will be June 30, according to a department spokesperson. Donegan has met with Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and informed the DFR staff of her plan to step down.  Before her role as commissioner, Donegan was deputy commissioner of insurance at the DFR between 2011 and 2013. She has also previously worked as counsel to the commissioner and hearing officer at the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, as an executive director at ITechLaw Association and as a senior attorney advisor at Van Doorne in The Netherlands. The DFR supervises traditional and captive insurance companies and their representatives, state-chartered banks and credit unions, licensed lenders and brokers and all other non-depository financial institutions, as well as securities broker dealers and investment advisers.
