SRS brings first Japanese Fortune 500 captive to Cayman

SRS has established Cayman’s first Japanese Fortune 500 captive, in a move the firm believes will trigger wider Asian interest in the jurisdiction.

The parent company has an existing captive in another domicile; however this entity will be closed, with all business to be written through the brand new Cayman captive.

The captive will write a large multi-line, multi-geography portfolio, covering a wide spectrum of P&C risks, and be managed by SRS. Lines include property, employer’s liability, and business interruption.

Jenny Pooley, CEO of SRS Cayman, told Captive Review that her Cayman team was currently seeing an increased level of enquiries from Asian organisations interested in establishing a captive in the domicile, with a view that this new formation could encourage others to follow.

She explained the client considered other jurisdictions before deciding Cayman was the best location for the captive, partly due to the regulator’s track record with other large multinational-owned captives.

“They reviewed different domiciles, and Cayman came out on top,” Pooley said. “The Cayman government is committed to remaining tax neutral, and its robust regulatory regime and stability are very important to them as a large-sized company.”

This news follows the 2025 launch of SRS’ initiative targeting Fortune 500 and other global complex organisations, SRS Titanium, with industry heavyweights Bob Gagliardi and Sandy Bigglestone as leaders of the operation.

Pooley confirmed that the firm’s local Cayman team will work in collaboration with Titanium to service the captive.

“This is a significant milestone for SRS, being the first Japanese captive in Cayman and fitting with SRS’ Titanium initiative to provide an elevated package of services for global and fortune 500 level clients,” she said.

“It’s about pulling together the expertise we already have at SRS Cayman and leveraging SRS Global as well to give the client confidence that they are going to get the best level of service from SRS,” she said.

The development mirrors a similar story for SRS in Europe. In December 2024, SRS Luxembourg established a new captive for TDK.
