Former USA Risk Group COO passes away

Andrew Sargeant, the former chief operating officer of captive manager USA Risk Group, has passed away.

Sargeant retired from the company in 2016, after working with the USA Risk team for 20 years, serving as chief operating officer of the group as a whole and Vermont office head.

Prior to USA Risk, Sargeant was vice president of Sedgewick Management Services in Vermont, having relocated from a similar role with Sedgewick in Bermuda.

Sargeant started his career working for Deloitte and Touche in Bermuda.

“Andy was my colleague and friend for 30 plus years from when we played soccer together in Bermuda to his hiring me to open the Sedgwick office in Hawaii to him and I stepping in to lead USA Risk Group after its ownership break up in the 90's,” said Gary Osborne, vice president at Risk Partners, in a statement. “I always felt we were a good combination in that he was the more practical and down to earth one who would bring me back to earth on some of my ideas but also support me fully when he saw the opportunity.

“He was a great friend to our community and especially the Vermont community where he added his expertise and knowledge to both the VCIA and ICCIE boards. He retired in 2016 and relocated to Florida and we kept in touch including meeting up a lovely dinner in Naples in 2020.

“Let us all remember him as a friend and also for being one of those rare things - a well-liked and loved boss to all at USA Risk.”
