West Virginia appoints new insurance commissioner
West Virginia has a new insurance commissioner. Allan L McVey was appointed last week by state governor Jim Justice following the resignation of Jim Dodrill earlier this month.
McVey has done the job before, serving as commissioner from March 2017 until the start of 2019, when he was appointed as the Department of Administration’s cabinet secretary.
Mary Jane Pickens now takes on McVey’s role as acting secretary. She also has insurance industry experience as an executive director of the state’s Board of Risk and Insurance Management since January 2015.
