Airmic CEO teases big UK captive announcement on Wednesday

Julia Graham, the CEO of Airmic, has teased that a big announcement relating to UK captives will be made tomorrow at the organisation’s annual conference. The UK government completed a consultation on a possible UK captive regime in February.

Speaking in an opening address at the conference, taking place in Liverpool this week, Graham said she could say no more about what the announcement would be but hoped it ensures delegates remained on site for the event’s final day.

She also set the scene for the conference, the theme of which is ‘Another world is possible’. “But don’t just watch it spin,” she said. “We want insurance and risk management as seen as strategic enablers.”

She described the growth and success of Airmic as an organisation. It now has some 2,150 members – an increase of around 600 in recent years. It has also set a record for registrations for its conference, which now has 2,250 people registered and 80 exhibitors.

She also explained the visual theme of the fair at this year’s event and Airmic’s central location in the exhibition hall, which also boasts a carousel. “The analogy for is Airmic being at the centre of risk management. We want there to be enough value at the centre to keep your attention and keep you coming back. We don’t intend to watch the world spin. We intend to build on this conference and continue moving forward.”
