Alliant taps Buck for benefits expert

Alliant Insurance Services has hired Dave Ratcliffe as a senior vice president and producer for its Employee Benefits Group as it moves to adopt "next-generation strategies" including through captives, to help clients.

Ratcliffe, formerly a principal at Washington, DC-based Buck, will support clients nationwide and focus on innovative solutions to improve employee health and cost avoidance.

“Dave gets to the heart of the matter by developing new employer solutions that achieve improved health and savings through next-generation strategies,” said Kevin Overbey, President of Alliant Employee Benefits. “His depth of experience and ability to shape outstanding employee benefits programmes will be invaluable for our clients.”

Ratcliffe uses many tools to help employers achieve their goals, and his past success includes implementing value-based care, precision medicine in cancer prevention and treatment, integrated benefits, advanced clinical concierge models, digital mental health, supplemental medical auto-claim adjudication, and captives. Data-driven business case development is always a cornerstone of his approach.

Ratcliffe was a principal at Buck from 2011 to 2024 and at Mercer from 1998 to 2011.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in economics and psychology. In addition, Ratcliffe is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) who has won awards for clients on creative and innovative strategies from the Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI), National Business Group on Health (NBGH), National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), Business Insurance, and Human Resource Leadership Awards (HRLA).
