Carey Olsen Bermuda appoints new counsel

Carey Olsen Bermuda has announced that Alex Collis has been appointed as counsel in the firm's corporate practice.

Collis has over a decade of experience in both London and Singapore with law firm Watson Farley & Williams, where he trained and qualified as a solicitor. According to Carey Olsen, Collis focuses on project finance, acting for and advising sponsor companies and lenders on their corporate, loan and security documentation and comes with a broad range of cross-border experience. Collis has particular expertise in the investment and financing of large-scale renewable energy projects, infrastructure and real estate assets (such as hotels and build-to-rent developments).

Michael Hanson, managing partner of Carey Olsen Bermuda, said: “It is a core strategic objective of our business to entice talent into the Bermuda market, so we are very pleased that Alex decided to make the move from London to join the firm. His renewable energy and project finance background is invaluable and will bolster our service offering, as well as enriching our office culture as a senior member of the team.

“The corporate department is now our fastest growing team in Bermuda, with the addition of 6 new attorneys over just the past 12 months. We have some more exciting announcements in the future which we look forward to sharing soon.”

Collis commented: “Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited enjoys a fantastic reputation from a client service and internal culture perspective, so for me it was the clear choice when returning home. I am looking forward to working with such a great team and helping the firm grow and achieve its ambitious objectives.”
