Florida risk retention bill fails at last hurdle

Florida Bill 516, which has been strongly criticised by the National Risk Retention Association (NRRA), has failed to progress to the desk of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and will not now go further.

The bill was paired with the identical House Bill CS/HB 57, and directly impacted risk retention groups in Florida, but was fiercely criticised by the NRRA and other groups as adversely affecting RRGs in the state.

Having died on the calendar, after the legislative session ended on May 5, the bill would have to be resubmitted and then go through committee and legislative assembly votes as before.

There is no information yet as to if this will occur.
