Aon hires cyber underwriter for reinsurance solutions

Aon has appointed Robert O’Connell as global cyber strategy and growth leader and executive managing director within its reinsurance solutions business.

“Rob’s extensive experience both in the cyber sector and risk transfer brings a unique perspective,” said Randy Stanco, US strategic business leader for reinsurance solutions. “We are excited to see the value Rob will deliver as he works collaboratively with our global broking and cyber analytics teams.”

O’Connell, previously CEO of Bermuda-based Cyber Re Limited and Platform Labs, will be responsible for delivering value to Reinsurance Solutions’ cyber clients and trading partners through risk structuring and broader access to insurance and reinsurance. 

Prior to Cyber Re, O’Connell was global cyber practice leader at Odyssey Re in London from 2017 to 2022, having previously held a number of underwriting roles at Chubb.
