Building the next generation

Welcome to this year’s Forty Under 40. Continued growth in the captive insurance industry has increased the already urgent need for the next generation to be ready to lead and take more senior roles within their organisations. It has also brought a heightened awareness of the imperative to bring new professionals in the industry and educate, develop, mentor and support them. The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) has embraced this challenge and assumed the lead role in addressing this need through our NEXTGen initiative.

The CICA NEXTGen programme provides education and networking opportunities for young and new professionals in the captive insurance industry. Combining education and networking opportunities, the platform connects new talent to the industry and develops meaningful relationships. By opening the doors to captive professionals with its targeted programming, the initiative ensures access to opportunities that build careers, expand networks and educate about captives.

In the next few years, many seasoned insurance professionals will retire and leave the industry, taking their experience and knowledge with them. Now is the best time to support the up-and-coming leaders in every area of the industry. The CICA NEXTGen committee works hard to bring people and knowledge together, through informative newsletters, webinars featuring trends and solutions and in-person networking opportunities at events around the country.

Participants find the small group sessions engaging, enlightening and fun to attend, especially the CICA NEXTGen professional development webinars. This format provides an informal way for young and new industry professionals to engage directly with peers while also receiving unfiltered advice from career professionals. CICA NEXTGen also offers special networking opportunities at many captive insurance conferences where young professionals can gather and feel welcome in what can otherwise be an intimidating environment for newcomers.

One of CICA’s goals is to help identify excellence and support the next generation. We are proud that many of the FORTY Under 40 recognised here are involved in CICA’s NEXTGen initiative.

CICA NEXTGen is part of the solution to bring more talent into the industry and support those new and young professionals in the industry. We encourage you to get involved and support this important initiative for the industry.
