Generali GC&C forms strategic partnership with NHAZCA to enhance satellite imaging
Generali Global Corporate and Commercial has formed a strategic partnership with NHAZCA, a spinoff from the Sapienza University in Rome.
The partnership will see NHAZCA provide its expertise in satellite, aerial and terrestrial sensing services to Generali’s P&C global corporate and commercial (GC&C) business unit, to enhance its existing capabilities in underwriting, risk engineering and loss prevention, and claims management.
The main applications will be for nat cat and earthquake, structural health monitoring and landslides related risks.
Generali GC&C can now leverage NHAZCA’s expertise in satellite SAR (synthetic aperture radar) interferometry, a remote sensing technology that can control and minimise construction and property risks. The technology is based on microwaves and offers a more detailed image than a standard optical satellite image. Historical data recorded by the satellites offers a picture of how risks are evolving over time.

As the industry embraces scientific methods, Lostuzzi said, its collaborations with partners like NHAZCA “strengthen its ability to meet the most sophisticated clients’ insurance needs, by further preventing and mitigating their risk exposures and enhancing cost-effectiveness in the insurance coverage”.
