HDI Global bolsters liability expertise with strategic leadership moves in Europe
Corporate & specialty insurer HDI Global has appointed Dennis Siebrasse (pictured) as new head of liability underwriting Europe, effective 1 November.
Dr Pascal Nef is taking over as head of technical & strategic services – long tail. Both will report directly to Dr Mukadder Erdönmez, member of the executive board of HDI Global, responsible for lability, cyber, and motor.
Dennis Siebrasse, previously responsible for technical & strategic services – long tail in Mukadder Erdönmez’ division, will lead underwriting in the European core markets. Siebrasse says: “I’m very much looking forward to this new role and to working with a strong underwriting team that has achieved a lot in recent years. I’ve witnessed this development from my responsibilities for casualty claims and most recently supported and shaped it with technical & strategic services long tail – becoming part of it myself now truly motivates me.”
“Dennis has repeatedly demonstrated that he can apply his extensive experience in corporate insurance with strategic foresight and energy to significantly contribute to our organisation’s success,” said Dr Mukadder Erdönmez. “I am confident that we can rely on his expertise and commitment as we continue to develop our liability business – and that he will play a key role in steering the division strategically and profitably in the future.”
Dr Pascal Nef will succeed Dennis Siebrasse in his previous role as head of technical & strategic services – long tail. Dr Nef brings over ten years of experience in analytics within corporate insurance to HDI Global. At Swiss Re, he most recently led the risk consulting & analytics team for the EMEA region. His work focused on data-driven support for leading corporate and commercial insurers – particularly in enhancing profitability, developing growth strategies, and strengthening technical underwriting excellence.
Dr Nef said: “Through my previous role, I had the opportunity to work closely with numerous global corporate insurers. HDI Global has always set itself apart from the competition with its 'created for industry by industry' philosophy and profound technical expertise in the analysis of complex risks. I am very much looking forward to sharing my perspectives and actively shaping Underwriting Excellence in the long-tail lines.”
Dr Erdönmez commented: “I’ve known Pascal for several years and am pleased to have him on board at HDI Global. With his extensive experience in corporate insurance, analytical skills, strategic thinking, and leadership experience, he will be an excellent driver of our continued journey towards underwriting excellence.”
Mark Appleton had taken over the management of all local liability units on an interim basis since March 2025, making a significant contribution to the further development of HDI Global’s liability portfolio. “I am personally deeply grateful to Mark for his dedication and wish Dennis and Pascal all the best in their new roles,” said Dr Erdönmez.
