HDI Global strengthens energy transition strategy with power underwriting appointment

Corporate & specialty insurer HDI Global has appointed Nils Langrehr (pictured) as the new head of power underwriting for its cross-division Energy & Power Unit.

The company said that Langrehr’s appointment, a proficient expert with extensive international experience, represents a pivotal strategic decision by the insurer. The newly created role underscores HDI Global's commitment to supporting clients and brokers worldwide as their preferred partner in transformation, addressing the challenges of the energy transition.

Langrehr brings a nearly 14-year career at Hannover Re to the new role and possesses deep expertise in renewable energies as well as the conventional energy sector, HDI Global said. Most recently, he served as a key contact in the London Market and for US brokers, significantly contributing to Hannover Re’s global positioning in renewable energies. At HDI Global, Langrehr reports to Franz Adamczyk, head of the energy & power unit.

“HDI Global operates its dedicated energy & power unit worldwide. Here, I aim to leverage my experience in international broker and client relations, in the London Market, as well as my technical expertise, effectively for our clients and brokers as a central go-to point,” says Nils Langrehr. “We manage both renewable and conventional energy sources and their risks from a single source. For many years now, my personal focus has been on renewables, including solar, wind, and battery storage energy, as well as hydropower, biomass, and the conversion of waste products into energy. These forms of energy generation are becoming increasingly important worldwide and are essential for a successful energy transition. Therefore, I am very excited to particularly drive HDI Global's underwriting strategy for renewable energies.”

Franz Adamczyk, Head of the energy & power unit at HDI Global, commented: “With his comprehensive international experience in underwriting renewable energies, Nils possesses excellent expertise. This will significantly strengthen our Energy & Power Unit, and we will actively meet the challenges of our global clients and broker partners by upholding close dialogue during this time of transformation.”

Dr Dirk Höring, member of the executive board of HDI Global SE, adds: “The HDI Global Energy & Power Unit is an integral part of our strategy to accompany clients worldwide as a one-stop shop through the energy transition. Nils Langrehr will significantly contribute with his expertise, enabling us to offer innovative insurance solutions along the entire value chain in the Power sector. I am very pleased that we have been able to win him over for us and for our clients and broker partners.”

HDI Global’s energy & power unit combines cross-division expertise to meet clients’ needs for streamlined and focused processes.
