Hiestand appointed CUO and head of captives at Artex Risk Solutions

Dawn Hiestand (pictured) has been appointed to the position of chief underwriting officer and head of captives at Artex Risk Solutions.

She is responsible for the leadership, growth and management of the Artex North America captive, benefits and underwriting business operating in the US, Cayman and Bermuda, as well as designing and executing the company’s strategic and operative plans as well as having direct P&L responsibility for the business. 

She is also responsible for the business operations of captives and underwriting businesses including mergers and acquisitions, product development and market management.

Hiestand was at Zurich North America for more than 19 years and before she joined Artex Risk Solutions she had reached the position of executive vice president and head of captives from February 2022 until her departure, where she was responsible for the overall strategy, business performance and operational management of the group captives insurance business which includes member-owned, agency and fronted captives.
