Lloyd’s and Starbucks experts to speak at VCIA conference
World class captive industry professionals, including executives from Lloyd’s and Starbucks, are lined up to speak at Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s (VCIA) annual conference in August.
The conference, which is being held virtually for a second year running, will run three days of sessions from August 10-12.
Hank Watkins, regional director and president, Americas, at Lloyd's will deliver the keynote speech on Wednesday, August 11.
Joined by Vermont commissioner of financial regulation Mike Pieciak, the duo will “discuss the implications of systemic risk on the insurance marketplace and provide thought provoking insight on the role captive insurance plays in addressing systemic risks”.
Steve Legg, who has served as director, risk management at Starbucks since 2006, will be taking part in a session covering hot topics in the captive industry.
The session takes place on Thursday, August 12 and will be led by Dave Provost, Vermont's deputy insurance commissioner. Other panellists include: Sandra Bigglestone, director of captive insurance at the Vermont department of financial regulation; Ellen Charnley, president of Marsh’s captive solutions practice; and Tracy Hassett, president and CEO of Educators Health.
Earlier this month, VCIA announced that it would address the top concerns of captives in a series of short, TED-Talk style presentations, called Ignite Talks, during the conference.
Topics include: parametric insurance; cyber regulation; captive strategic planning; third party risk; tax strategies; and employee benefits, among many others.
