Marsh to expand Bahrain operations with new captive drive
Marsh is planning to expand its capabilities in Bahrain to include captive insurance management services.
The group claims this development would make Marsh the first international broker to provide such services in the Kingdom.
Marsh Bahrain’s captive services, together with all captive services in the region, will be led by Marcin Antosik, captive regional leader, Middle East, Marsh.
Marsh previously achieved captive insurance licences in Dubai, in 2008, and Abu Dhabi in 2018.
Antosik said: “Marsh’s captive solutions continue to grow across the Gulf region, as clients seek more sophisticated risk-financing options that offer greater control, flexibility and certainty in an increasingly complex risk environment. We look forward to helping organisations across the region use captive solutions to protect against emerging exposures and future shocks.”
The announcement was made at the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf, held on 1–2 November 2026 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. Hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the forum convenes under the theme “Reimagining Global Partnerships, Powering Sustainable Growth”.
Dalal Buhejji, executive director of financial services at the Bahrain EDB, said: “Marsh’s presence in Bahrain reflects the Kingdom’s strengths as a destination for international professional services firms, supported by a business-friendly environment, a robust financial services sector and access to markets across the GCC. As businesses navigate increasingly complex risks, the expertise of global risk advisory and insurance firms such as Marsh supports the resilience and growth of the wider business community.”
Marsh has established operations in Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates supporting clients with risk management, insurance broking and specialist advisory services.
Commenting on the announcement, Noor Al-Haji, chief executive, Marsh Bahrain & Kuwait, added: “Bahrain’s position as a well-regulated financial centre, combined with the region’s continued economic diversification, makes this an important milestone for Marsh and for the wider captive insurance market in the Gulf. As businesses across the GCC pursue growth in an environment shaped by stronger non-oil investment, evolving regulation and increasingly complex risks – from supply chain disruption and cyber exposure to healthcare and employee benefit cost pressures – captive insurance is becoming a more strategic tool for financial resilience.”
