Missouri Insurance Director Angela Nelson to headline inaugural Mid-Rivers Risk Forum

The Mid-Rivers Risk Forum has announced that Angela Nelson (pictured), director of the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance, will be one of the speakers on Monday, September 29th at the Inaugural Mid Rivers Risk Forum Conference.

She brings nearly 25 years of deep-rooted experience in the insurance sector—having served as an agent, regulator, and executive.

Nelson’s career includes a long tenure with the department, where she led both the Insurance Consumer Affairs Division during the Joplin tornado response and the Market Regulation Division. She later served as vice president of Public Affairs and Government Relations for the Automobile Club of Missouri and oversaw compliance operations at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.

In addition to delivering the luncheon keynote, Nelson will moderate a panel of DCI leadership discussing current challenges and innovations shaping Missouri’s regulatory landscape.

According to its organisers the event will provide educational sessions for risk managers who work directly with brokers, are self-insured, own a captive, or all the above. The Forum was described as: "A single event that allows attendees an opportunity to expand their knowledge in their area of interest and learn new creative options while having some fun along the way."

The organisations behind the event include the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance, the Missouri Captive Insurance Association, the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Ozark Area chapter, the RIMS St. Louis chapter and the RIMS Greater Kansas City chapter.
