Alabama Captive Association director joins law firm Bradley

Davis Smith, a director sitting on the board of the Alabama Captive Association, is joining the corporate, securities and tax practice groups of law firm Bradley as a partner.

Smith will advise on captive insurance companies, risk retention groups and self-insured funds on transactional, regulatory and tax matters.

Furthermore, he counsels clients on tax and business strategies in a variety of industries, including participants in regulated industries, including insurance companies and investment advisors, and the professional services industry.

“We are thrilled to have Davis join Bradley as a highly regarded practitioner in tax and business strategies,” said Bradley Montgomery Office Managing Partner Robert Emmett Poundstone IV. “He brings nearly two decades of experience, including a particular focus and a track record of success in the captive insurance industry.”

Smith is also a member of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), and is a frequent speaker and writer on tax planning for businesses, which includes strategies for captives. He co-authored the 2016 update to the Alabama Captive Insurers Act.
