The Delaware Captive Insurance Association (DCIA) has appointed Christian Stormer to serve on its board of directors.
Stormer is a certified public accountant and shareholder with accounting firm Bauknight Pietras & Stormer (BPS). His practice is comprised of telecommunications, insurance and entrepreneurial services.
He joined BPS in 1992, and leads the firm’s services to regulated insurance carriers, risk retention groups, association captives, and pure captive insurance companies. The firm provides consulting services around business formation, audit and assurance, and tax issues.
“Chris is a highly regarded member of captive community," DCIA president Joanne Shaver commented. "The DCIA is looking forward to having him serve our the board of directors.”
Delaware is home to over 550 active captives, and is one of 40 states that serve as onshore captive domiciles.
Stormer is one of 14 individuals from across the US on the DCIA board and will serve a three-year term. He is also the former chairman, president and treasure of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association; and a member of similar associations in North Carolina and Vermont.
Commenting on his appointment, he said: “Captive insurance continues to be highly attractive to companies and associations that want greater control over their insurance programs, their coverage and costs. I look forward to being an active board member and helping to lead Delaware’s captive insurance initiative.”
