Hawaii Captive Insurance Council (HCIC) has presented an award of excellence to California Healthcare Insurance Company (CHI).
Founded in 1988, CHI is a risk retention group which provides professional liability insurance to its healthcare entity owner and insureds.
As an insurance carrier in California and Nevada, CHI helps hospitals, health care systems and medical groups protect their assets in the reimbursement market.
A second award of excellence was given to long-time Hawaii corporate attorney, Gerald Yoshida, for his contributions to the captive industry in Hawaii.
The awards are given annually to a company and individual in recognition of “valuable contributions made over the years to promote, develop, and maintain the captive industry in the State of Hawaii.” They were presented by Matthew Takamine, chair of HCIC.
Since 2007, CHI has issued 10 premium rebate distributions for a combined total of over $22 million. The rebates are designed to enhance clinical outcomes and patient care and claims management services.
More than 200 captive insurance companies are domiciled in Hawaii, and CHI is the fourth longest-standing active captive insurance company domiciled there.
