MSL appoints new CFO

MSL Captive Solutions (MSLCS) has appointed David Sykes as chief financial officer, assuming his duties with immediate effect.

Most recently, Sykes was managing director of Strategic Risk Solutions Bermuda (SRS) where he led the insurance management operations for SRS for over a decade before relocating to the US.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to add the experience and expertise that David brings to MSLCS. His deep knowledge of captives, especially group captive structures, will be invaluable to the accounting and reporting on our captive programs”, said Phil Giles, managing director, MSLCS. “We are committed to the underwriting and servicing of captive programs for medical stop loss, both single parent and group captives. We will continue to add to and build on our captive experience as we further develop MSLCS as the industry’s leading MGU dedicated to the captive sector.”

Sykes has more than 30 years’ experience in financial management for a range of insurance entities, including captives, commercial reinsurers, and service companies. His extensive experience includes managing the accounting and reporting requirements for many group captive programs underwriting both employee benefits and property & casualty risk. Sykes is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Warwick in the UK.

“I am excited to be joining MSLCS at this stage of the company’s growth. I have been impressed by the company’s development to date and the future opportunities as captives become a more established funding mechanism for medical stop loss”, said Sykes. “Joining MSLCS allows me to focus my prior captive experience on this sector and develop best in class servicing processes to support our captive programs.”
