Nevada Insurance Commissioner steps down

Nevada Insurance Commissioner Barbara Richardson has resigned from her post and will be replaced.

In a short statement on its website the Nevada Captive Insurance Council (NCIC) said that it has received word and has confirmed that Richardson vacated her post as the Nevada Insurance Commissioner as of Friday December 30, 2022.

No statement has yet been released from Richardson or the State of Nevada about why she departed.

According to the NCIC Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo will appoint a new commissioner. The NCIC said that it will keep all members updated as more information comes in.

Richardson assumed the role of insurance commissioner in Nevada in March of 2016. Prior to accepting that role, she had been the New Hampshire Insurance Department's director of operations and fraud for 12 years. Before that she worked at various times in her career for CNA, Kemper Financial, the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago and Putnam Securities.
