New head of insurance at BP

Paul Marshall, the former risk manager at Bechtel Corporation, has been appointed as head of insurance for BP. He announced the move with a short post on LinkedIn.

Marshall was with US-headquartered engineering, procurement, construction, and project management company Bechtel for over a decade.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have gained while working at this great company,” he wrote, announcing his departure two weeks ago. “I have been fortunate to work with some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in the industry, and I will truly miss my colleagues and the work we accomplished together.”

Before joining the business, he worked as deputy risk manager for Tate & Lyle, where he was also director of its captive Tate & Lyle Insurance Gibraltar and as risk and insurance advisor for Shell, where he was responsible for providing risk management and insurance Shell’s operational assets and construction projects in the Middle East and Russia.

A graduate from Heriot-Watt University with an MA in international business and finance, Marshall started his career as a graduate trainee with Benfield (now Aon) in 2002.
