Spiegel steps up as R&Q chairman as Randall retires

William Spiegel has ascended to the role of executive chairman at Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings (R&Q), succeeding Ken Randall who has retired, both as chairman and as a director.

Spiegel described it as “an immense honour” to succeed a man he described as “one of the world’s leading insurance entrepreneurs for over 30 years.”

Randall insisted he is leaving the business in good hands. “Not only does he share the entrepreneurial flair that is part of R&Q’s DNA, but since joining he has demonstrated a clear ambition to further accelerate R&Q’s growth across its two core businesses and beyond,” he said.

Randall founded R&Q with Alan Quilter, who serves as the group chief executive officer, in 1991. It now has a market value of nearly £500 million and more than 300 employees working across nine offices globally, focussed on legacy and programme management markets.

Quilter credited Randall’s direction, energy and vision as key reasons for the success of the business. “He has been pivotal in building an outstanding senior management team which is now taking the group to the next level,” he added.
