Uber unveils new director of US insurance

Joseph Messina has been appointed director of US insurance at Uber.

Based in New York Messina will lead the strategy, placement, and operations of Uber's U.S. P2P insurance programs.

He was previously legal director, insurance law & legislation at Uber, again in New York, from March 2021 until August 2023, where he was a legal generalist with a primary focus on insurance regulatory, coverage, and transactional matters in North America, as well as also leading Uber’s insurance public policy efforts.

He joined Uber in November 2017 as a senior counsel for insurance.

Prior to that he was insurance and reinsurance coverage associate at Crowell & Moring from October 2015 to October 2017 in New York.
