CIMA appoints deputy head of insurance

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) has appointed Razaak Busari as deputy head of its insurance division.

Busari joins from the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority where he served as an associate director. His financial career began in 1999 as an associate with the UK’s Financial Services Authority.

The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC), a non-profit organisation run by the insurance managers of the Cayman Islands, has welcomed the appointment.

Kieran O’Mahony, IMAC chairperson, said: “on behalf of IMAC and all of its members, I extend a warm welcome to Mr Busari. We are looking forward to working with him to continue enhancing the Cayman Islands insurance offering through sound, appropriate, risk based regulation as well as regulator-industry engagement, which has been the corner stone of Cayman’s success story heretofore.”
