AJG loses its chief underwriting officer

Broker Arthur J. Gallagher has announced its chief underwriting officer, Sian Fisher, is leaving the company to seek a fresh challenge.

Fisher joined AJG in 2008 as managing director of OIM Underwriting, when Oxygen Insurance Managers was acquired — the business she jointly founded in 2004.

She has helped build Arthur J. Gallagher’s specialist underwriting business in the UK, and has most recently formed a long-term underwriting and governance framework for the firm’s two arms covering delegated authority underwriting (MGU) and transactional underwriting (MGA).

David Ross, AJG’s International CEO, said: “Sian’s contribution to our successful growth as a fully diversified, intermediary insurance business has been huge.

Fisher will remain with the business until mid-October, working with incoming executive chairman of underwriting & distribution Adrian Brown to ensure a smooth handover.

“We are now one of the largest MGUs and MGAs in the UK and Sian’s technical excellence, strong leadership and unwavering focus on the delivery of returns for insurer partners have enabled us to build a robust underwriting business which is now primed for further expansion, alongside the great growth potential we are already fostering in our personal lines, private clients and affinity businesses. We’d like to thank Sian and wish her well in all future endeavours.”
