David Slenn (pictured) has been appointed managing director, tax practice policy & quality at Grant Thornton Advisors, based in Tampa, Florida.
Slenn was previously at Akerman as a partner in its tax practice.
Focusing on tax, estate and business planning issues, Slenn is an expert on risk management and captive insurance companies. He has advised businesses across industries on setting up and administering captives and assisted with controversial matters in IRS examinations and litigation in US Tax Court. He also serves as the editor and a co-author of the Captive Insurance Deskbook for the Business Lawyer, published by the American Bar Association.
He previously spent five years with Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, where he was also a partner, from 2016 to 2022.
Slenn was a senior associate attorney with Quarles & Brady from May 2013 to September 2016.
He continues to be an advisory committee member of the Cybersecurity for Executives Program at the University of Southern Florida’s MUMA College of Business.
